2020 WWDC Online Developers Conference

By | March 15, 2020

In the early morning of March 14, Apple announced that its 31st global developers conference would be an online only event. As the coronavirus continues to spread around the world, offline gatherings will not be organized this year. The online conference will be held in June.

The WWDC conference is usually held in June in the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, California, USA. however, there have been several cases of coronavirus in this area, and it is not clear whether the epidemic will last until summer, so it has to be transferred from offline to online.

Phil Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of global marketing, said: “we will share WWDC 2020 with millions of developers around the world in a new way in June this year. The current epidemic situation requires us to create a new WWDC 2020 ‘format’, which must include an online keynote and a complete conference process, and provide an excellent learning experience for all Apple developers around the world. We will share all the details in the coming weeks. “
In recent years, apple usually releases a preview of OS X or the next version of IOS. At this year’s conference, Apple may launch IOS 14, iPad OS 14, Mac OS 10.16, tvos 14 and watchos 7. Although it is not clear whether new hardware will be available at the same time, products such as the macbook pro and MacBook Air are expected to be updated within this year.

In recent years, the number of participants of WWDC is usually more than 5000. Apple said it would donate $1 million to San Jose organizations to help make up for the expected losses as the event will no longer be held in San Jose.
Over the past few years, Apple has been using a lottery system to manage developers’ demand for tickets. Tickets cost $1599 each (more than the top-level iPhone 11 max) and include a live keynote and a week-long conference focused on Apple’s latest technology hosted by key Apple employees.
2020 has passed 20%, but many people have lost the experience of time passing, it seems that they still stay on the edge of the holiday. One of the reasons for this is that many large-scale activities used to verify time nodes have been cancelled or moved to computer screens.
So far, the world mobile communication conference (MWC), Facebook F8 Developers Conference, Google I / O conference, South by Southwest conference, NVIDIA GTC conference, etc. have been cancelled, while the Game Developers Conference (GDC) has been postponed, Adobe summit, 2020 Atlantic summit, etc. have been changed to online
In addition, we may lose this year’s NBA and European Cup, even the Olympic Games, as well as countless cinema films. The impact of the epidemic on human beings is still expanding.
